YELLOWSTONE: COSTUME BLOG
SEASON: SUMMER
Each day you come to work, we'd like you to bring three options of outfits. This way, we can choose the look that works the best for the scene and make sure we have a variety of colors and styles to choose from. Even if you don't have exactly what you see in the photos, bring several options of what you have. We might love it! Also, please bring any accessories you normally wear with your costume (jewelry, watches, purses, etc.)
If you have tattoos, please bring clothing options that cover your tattoos.
If you are recalled or if you are working on multiple days in the same scene, please bring all of the same stuff you wore on your first work day. If you aren't sure whether we've seen you in a particular scene, just bring whatever you've worn on camera in the past. Once we start filming, your costume needs to stay exactly the same until we've finished the scene, so if you are wearing a jacket when we start filming, you'll need to wear it the whole day, even if the weather gets warm.
Along with your costume, bring a warm layer to wear when you aren't filming and ladies in heels, bring comfortable shoes to wear when you are off camera.
Please stay away from:
Bright colors
Bold Patterns and Prints
Logos/ Copyrighted items (including brands, sports teams, or bands)
NO WHITE SHOES, PLEASE
Black and white are okay in small amounts but try to bring
some options in the colors on this chart as well.

DAY WORKERS' FAMILIES AND VALLEY FOLKS (ADULTS AND CHILDREN)
- Casual western wear for a warm summer day in Montana -- bring what you would wear to a neighborhood barbecue or gathering at a ranch.
- You will be outside in the sun, walking in the grass and dirt, and there might be mosquitos, so dress appropriately and bring whatever sunscreen and bug spray you will want.
- We'd like most of the crowd to look like cowboys and their families, so if you have good western wear, bring it. Some folks at the party can look like neighbors or friends who aren't cowboys, so if you don't have western wear, that's ok too. Just bring a couple of options of what you think is good for the scene! Remember, you will be wearing this outfit for several days in a row.
- Here's a list of some thing to wear:
- well worn t-shirts, knit tops, no logos
- western shirts, casual button down shirts
- jeans, casual pants, some shorts are ok
- casual skirts, sundresses, rompers
- vests, denim jackets, lightweight layers
- boots or casual closed toe shoes (you will be walking around a ranch) *please don't wear white shoes!
- western hats (worn straw or felt hats), baseball caps without logos, straw sun hats
- no white, no neon colors or red -- muted sunset colors are the best, look at the dots up above for ideas
- no logos or brand names -- including bands, sports teams, local businesses, clothing brands
- please bring clothing that covers your tattoos

- ties, avoid shiny fabrics and busy patterns
- dress shoes and dress belt in the same color
For Women:
REPORTERS / NEWS CREWS
VET TECHS
- I'm guessing you are real vet techs and know what to wear for branding. You can look at the guidelines for valley folks above and bring a couple options of what you think is right. Please avoid clothes with logos, bright white, red, and wild patterns. The day worker cowboys you will be working with will all be wearing western shirts, jeans, chaps, cowboy boots, and cowboy hats.
